Meg
Hi, I’m Meg! I’m an experienced and enthusiastic teacher with over 20 years in education—and I still love seeing those “lightbulb moments” when learning clicks.
My teaching philosophy is simple and central to everything I do: confidence, curiosity, and community. When children feel confident in their abilities, curious about learning, and supported by the people around them, they thrive.
I tutor English, reading, comprehension, and writing for students aged 5–16, as well as numeracy for students aged 5–13. Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of learners, including high potential and gifted students, Opportunity Class students, and children preparing for selective schools and streamed classes. I enjoy meeting students where they’re at and helping them take the next step—at their pace.
Student wellbeing is always a priority for me. I aim to create calm, encouraging learning spaces where children feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow in confidence. I particularly enjoy working with small groups, where students can learn together, build friendships, and feel part of a learning community.
I’m really looking forward to working alongside you and supporting your child on their learning journey..
Josie
Hi, I’m Josie!
Over the years, I’ve had many opportunities to work with children in a variety of settings — from afterschool care to the primary school classroom, as well as in tutoring and, more recently, homeschooling. Every experience has reinforced how important it is to build strong relationships and meet students where they are. I truly believe that respect, connection, and genuine care create the foundation for a positive and successful learning environment
As a child, I absolutely loved learning. I remember the joy of discovering something new and the confidence that came from understanding it. That love of learning has stayed with me, and it’s something I want to pass on to the children I work with. I want every child to feel confident and curious about their own learning journey.
Creativity is also at the heart of a lot that I do. I have a strong passion for art and creative expression, and I love weaving creativity into learning experiences wherever possible. Whether it be through hands-on activities, imaginative thinking, or artistic exploration.
The vision behind Little Gems Learning is to ignite confidence, curiosity, and a strong sense of community in every child, and we are so excited to bring that vision to life.
I’m truly looking forward to launching Little Gems Learning and to meeting, supporting, and guiding your child on their learning journey.
